The Arrotek team again this year got involved with the Nazareth House appeal. We received gift tags from Nazareth House containing the names of current residents. These are residents who have had minimal contact with loved ones throughout 2020 because of the impact of the pandemic. Nazareth House provides a range of different care services to people in the community. This includes long-term care, respite care, and convalescence care, as well as end of life and palliative care. Members of the Arrotek team took individual tags to buy gifts, using a gift idea list from Nazareth House as a guide....
Charities always need support, but they need it even more so in 2020. That's why we at Arrotek were determined to keep up our annual tradition of supporting local causes in a spirit of Christmas giving. The company has again this year donated to the Irish Kidney Association. It does vital work supporting patients affected by end-stage kidney disease, as well as their families. It is a disease that can affect anyone, and the impact can be significant. Supporting organisations like the Irish Kidney Association is more important than ever as 2020 comes to an end, given their fundraising efforts...
We may not have had a Christmas party this year, but the festive spirit is still alive at Arrotek! Merry Christmas! https://youtu.be/c91Uhu-ZZQA
Members of the Arrotek team grew some debonair-esque facial hair as part of the annual Mo Bro part of the Movember challenge, raising over €1,300 in the process. Other members of the team also took part in the Mo Bro & Mo Sista's challenge this year, where they walked or ran over 60km during the month of November. The money raised during the Movember campaign goes to groups working on men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. Well done to everyone involved!
We use a well-established six-step process here at Arrotek to design and develop new medical device products. The process takes new product ideas from the concept stage through to final prototype production, ready for testing and evaluation. The six steps are: Requirements Concept generation Concept development Stage-1 prototype Concept refinement Stage-2 prototype Watch our video to find out more. https://youtu.be/jRE1tF9FgMQ
One of the most important questions to find the answer to if you have an idea for a new medical device is how much it will cost to design and develop, i.e., how much it will cost to turn the idea into a working, manufacturable product that is ready to go to the next stage. One of the challenges of getting this information is that there are a lot of variables. However, at Arrotek, we have used our extensive experience in the industry to develop a calculator that will give you an estimate of the costs involved to design your...
As part of the Employee Wellbeing Programme, and to coincide with World Mental Health Day last Saturday, Arrotek has organised a Workplace Wellbeing Workshop for employees. The focus of the workshop is to create awareness of how easy it is to fall into anxiety and negative thought patterns, particularly as COVID-19 continues to impact every part of work and life. The workshop also outlines positive coping strategies for building emotional wellbeing. Some of the areas covered include nurturing quality connections, dealing with unpredictability, and growing self-confidence.
Careers’ fairs and events are important dates on the calendar for students, universities, sectors like engineering, and industries like MedTech. Events this year are going to be very different, though, due to the current restrictions, with most careers’ fairs going virtual. Arrotek will be at two of these redesigned virtual events in October, and we can't wait. The first is the Graduate Jobs Fair 2020 at NUI Galway on 12 October. While we can't meet you in person, you can visit us at our virtual stand and chat to members of the Arrotek team. The second is a virtual trade...
Some of the Arrotek team headed to Lough Key Forest Park in Boyle, Country Roscommon recently to enjoy zip lining as part of a team-building event. The event was run by Zipit, who have built 1.6km of treetop zip lining activities in this stunning forest. This includes over 909 metres of zip lines and 92 activities between platforms high up in the trees. Team building events are just one of the things that used to be considered normal but are now radically different because of the battle against COVID-19 and the social distancing rules that are in effect. The Zipit team has excellent COVID-19 measures in...
The COVID-19 emergency has meant adapting to changes in multiple areas of life, and running races are no exception. They have gone virtual, and in one recent event, Arrotek's Jake O'Regan came out on top, helping to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland in the process. The event was the Grant Thornton Virtual GT5K Challenge, organised by Athletics Ireland. It took place on the weekend of 14-16 August. Those taking part had to run their best 5k over the weekend, submitting their time via an app on their phone or their GPS watch to see where they finished...
